Eric S. Raymond discusses the benefits of the Open Source
development model (aka the "bazaar") over the more traditional development
model used by proprietary software makers (aka the "cathedral"). This
influential paper was critical in influencing Netscape's decision to
open up the code to Netscape Navigator, thus leading to the Firefox web
browser and Thunderbird email application.
"Linux News on Internet Time". A news portal site
with links to current online articles concerning Linux and Open Tech related
issues. Includes abstracts and discussions.
Despite the rather odd introduction, this is one of the
best online papers on the history of Unix and, by extension, Linux.
