About Jay MacDonald
An Internet Pioneer, Jay first started using the Internet in 1987 while
attending the University of Nevada, Reno to complete a Masters degree at
the Mackay School of Mines. In 1993, when the World Wide Web was still in
its infancy, he installed his first Linux system. Shortly thereafter he
cofounded Aztech Cyberspace in order to meet the needs of organisations to
establish a presence on the World Wide Web. Recognising the value of Open
Technology when establishing online systems, Jay built a team of
professionals at Aztech Cyberspace capable of implementing solutions
faster and at less expense than could be done with proprietary tools.
In 2002 Aztech Cyberspace merged with Twelve Horses North America and
Jay shifted from the position of Chief Technology Officer to Chief Privacy
and Security Officer. In that capacity he was responsible for all aspects
of privacy involving Twelve Horses' signature platform, Message Maker.
Toward the end of 2004 Jay sold his interest in Twelve Horses in order
to fulfill his dream of returning to Canada. Settling in the Vancouver area
not far from his roots, he enjoys spending what spare time he can savouring
the surrounding environment and reaquainting with old friends and family.
